Valerie Muir

DIRECTOR, FINANCE

My name is Valerie Muir. I joined the Kambu Health team in June 2020 as Finance Manager and am responsible for all areas of finance and administration for the organisation. Prior to my role at Kambu Health, I held senior finance positions in various sectors including education, local government, retail, and banking, all within the Ipswich area.

I studied Accounting as a mature student at Griffith University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1997, followed by postgraduate studies to obtain my CPA status in 2001.

Having worked and lived in the Ipswich area for most of my adult life, I was aware of the existence of Kambu Health. However, it has only been since commencing work here that I have come to realise the significant contribution this organisation makes to the Ipswich community, and particularly to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to be a part of this evolving, health focused service where I can continue to learn and grow and be part of something so important to our community.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I migrated to Australia with my family at a very early age and grew up in Inala with my older sister and younger brother. I have lived in Ipswich since early 1982 and have been married to my husband, who was born and raised in Ipswich, since 1979. We have two adult children who were also born, raised, and educated in Ipswich, and two precious fur babies.

Outside of my role with Kambu Health I enjoy spending time with my family, as well as reading, yoga, cooking and spending time at the beach.
