ABOUT FAMILY WELLBEING SERVICE
The Family Wellbeing Service is a culturally safe, early intervention program offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with an aim to build strong and resilient families through connectedness with community and enhancing the social and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people.

The Kambu Health, Family Wellbeing Service (FWS) team delivers integrated, innovative, and culturally safe services, in response to family and community needs. The Family Wellbeing Service team provides in-home support and connects you with services that can help with the challenges of raising a family.
The team from Kambu Health Family Wellbeing Service walks alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions who may be experiencing life challenges and would benefit from support. Providing:
• Family capabilities and connections by using a culturally holistic case management approach through co-design with you and your family.
• In-home and community-based support.
• Parenting programs.
• School holiday programs.
• Elders Group, Women's Group, Men's Group
Some examples of supports include:
• Child wellbeing – assist with routines and managing the day to day running of the house.
• Parenting skills – understand kids needs and development, discuss alternative forms of discipline and link with parenting programs.
• Household relationships – improve child/parent relationships and communication skills.
• Social and/or community support networks – connect with local peers, elders, services, and groups.
• Housing, food, clothing, and budgeting - we can support you by connecting you with appropriate housing, food relief, financial counselling, and other community services. While we do not directly provide housing, food, or material assistance, our team can help you navigate available supports, make referrals, and advocate on your behalf as you work towards stable household arrangements and wellbeing goals.
• Physical health and disabilities – promote healthy lifestyles, access to health checks, medical specialists and create connections to NDIS.
• Mental and Emotional Health – emotional support for the tough stuff, including help with depression, anxiety, and self-harm.
• Alcohol and/or drug misuse – we can support you by connecting you with appropriate alcohol and other drug services and supports. While we do not provide direct treatment, our team can assist with referrals, advocacy, and ongoing support to help reduce the impact on individuals and families.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families (parents/caregivers and your child/children) located in the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions who would like support.

This referral form is for both families and service providers.
No, the Kambu Health Family Wellbeing Service program is free.
You can refer (or be referred) to the program at any point.
We encourage all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families within the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions who are experiencing vulnerability to self-refer.
Once your referral is received, you will undertake an initial intake discussion with one of our Family Wellbeing Service team members and from there we will start building a plan and focusing on your goals!

Our Indigenous Youth and Family Worker (IYFW) provides culturally responsive support to improve social, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
They also provide provisions to build capacity to safely care for and protect young people and their families.
The program is part of the Queensland Government’s investment in offering vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people a tailored combination of services to address multiple and sometimes, complex levels of need.
It meets the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people 10 to 17 years at risk of entry or re-entry into the youth justice system.
Services offered include:
• Goal setting
• In home support
• Work with other agencies
• Transport to and from appointments
• Advocacy support
