OUR FAMILIES OUR WAY

ABOUT OUR FAMILIES OUR WAY
Kambu Health Our Families, Our Way Program,
is a new way of approaching the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
who are in the child protection system.
This program focuses on the importance of cultural knowledge, as well as acknowledging the voice and needs of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
In this space, Kambu Health will be able to make decisions and influence change by bringing culture
to the forefront of decision making.
Collaboration is key to this new way of working where Kambu Health will focus on better understanding
children and families’ current situations, needs, and wishes.
This program will allow Kambu Health to be a part of important family conversations to determine family time
and provide supervision so families can connect.
Most importantly, Kambu Health will be actively contributing to a reduction in the overrepresentation
of our jarjums and mob within the child protection system.
This program is committed to making sure children are heard so they have the best opportunity to thrive,
grow up safe, be loved, and remain connected to family, community, and culture.
This is our mob, and we know them and the way.
