Dr. Suparna Chakrabarty Specialist Paediatrician

Dr. Suparna Chakrabarty, Specialist Paediatrician holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Calicut, India (1995), and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP, Paediatrics and Child Health Division, 2016; FRACP Community Child Health, 2022).


She has undertaken paediatric training across Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia, gaining extensive clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings.


For the past eight years, Dr. Chakrabarty has been based in Townsville, where she has delivered developmental and community paediatric services to children and young people, including those involved with the Youth Justice System, as well as the wider community.


Her professional experience includes working with the Forensic Mental Health Service and the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) as an Adolescent and Developmental Paediatrician. 


In addition, she has contributed to medical education as a Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics at James Cook University, where she was responsible for teaching and supervising fifth-year medical students.


Dr. Chakrabarty works closely with families and young people to provide tailored, needs-based medical and allied health support for children with neurodivergence. Her practice is centred on achieving the best possible long-term developmental and social outcomes for each child.
