International Day of Families
Today we celebrate families in all their forms and reflect on what it takes to help them truly thrive. Family is everything, whether it is the family we are born into or the family we choose. It's where we learn our culture, our stories, and where we feel safe and strong.
This year's theme is "Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing," and it is a powerful reminder that not all families are starting from the same place. Widening inequalities in income, healthcare, education and access to services are shaping family life and influencing children's futures in ways we cannot ignore.
Families are at the heart of social and economic progress. But too many are doing it tough and navigating income insecurity, limited caregiving support and unequal access to the services they need. When families struggle, children feel it most.
That is why investing in families is one of the most important things we can do. This is done through child benefits, parental leave, affordable childcare, early education and strong social support systems that leave no family behind.
This International Day of Families, we stand with every family working hard to give their children a safe, healthy and bright future.
