Since 1976, Kambu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health (Kambu Health) has proudly walked alongside Mob, delivering care that’s grounded in culture, community, and connection.

From humble beginnings to a strong, community-led health service—this year, we proudly celebrate 49 years of walking alongside Mob and caring for our community.

It all began when local leaders Les Davidson, Cecil Fisher, Ken Dalton, Roberta Thompson, Faye Carr, Bill Robertson, and Doreen Thompson recognised the urgent need for culturally safe health care for our people.

From a room in Doreen Thompson’s home, doctors would travel from Brisbane once a week to provide support to our community in Ipswich.

We honour the vision of our Elders, past and present, whose strength and leadership laid the foundation for all we are today.

Today, Kambu Health employs nearly 120 deadly staff, delivering comprehensive medical, specialist, allied and social health services, as well as early childhood education, family, and community care programs across the region.

We stand strong on the legacy of our Elders and remain committed to creating healthy futures for the next generations.

Here's to nearly five decades of empowering families, strengthening culture, and improving health outcomes—together.

Kambu Health: Our People, Our Community, Our Health, Our Way.
