Damain Storey

DIRECTOR

Born and raised in Ipswich, Damain Storey, a proud Mununjali man, has lived in the area his entire life and proudly calls it home. A devoted grandfather to eight (8), Damain brings both life experience and strong community connections to his role as a Director on the Board of Kambu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health (Kambu Health), a position he has held for nearly six (6) years.

He was inspired to join the Kambu Health Board as a way to stay active in the Ipswich and surrounding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. For Damain, it’s an opportunity to learn more about the needs of Mob and to contribute in a meaningful way to the organisation’s growth and direction. “As a child, I attended the clinic when it first opened in 1976,” he recalls. “I could never have imagined the impact Kambu Health would grow to have today.”

Damain brings relevant training in governance and leadership to the Board, allowing him to engage in informed decision-making while keeping community needs at the centre. He is particularly passionate about creating opportunities for future generations — ensuring that young people have access to better health, education, and support systems. He understands that part of his role is to ensure Kambu Health continues to reflect community voices, culture, and values, now and into the future.

Damain says his biggest influence in life has been his mum, as well as his family. Their guidance and support shaped his values and continue to ground his leadership today. And something deadly that not everyone may know? He’s a proud and passionate Broncos and Queensland Maroons supporter — always backing his teams and his community with pride.

As a Director, Damain’s message to the community is simple: he’s here to listen, represent, and help build a healthier, stronger future for all.
