The Kambu Health, Youth Cultural Mentoring is delivered to youth aged 10 – 17 years old with the aim of supporting, empowering and preparing young people with the necessary tools and resources to make informed choices around their own, their families and their communities health and wellbeing.

With a strong focus on reducing at-risk behaviour and enabling our young people to make better choices, the Youth Cultural Mentoring team will engage and collaborate with families, kin and communities to build capabilities and connections.

Our Youth Cultural Mentoring team supports youths and their families through culturally safe, flexible and strengths-based approaches. Offering the following services to youths in the Ipswich areas (but not limited to):

• Referrals to specialist services including health, education, counselling, child development, youth, family safety, drug and alcohol and disability.

• Yarning Circles to share local cultural knowledge of the young person's kin and country.

• The development and implementation of Goal-orientated Support Plans.

• Outreach support.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 10 – 17 years old in the Ipswich area involved in the youth justice system.

Are you Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community?

We are currently seeking mentors to work with youth aged 10-17 years old in our Cultural Yarns to Refocus Direction (CYRD) program.

As a mentor, you will have the chance to share your knowledge, skills, and experiences with the next generation.

You will be a positive role model for our youth, helping them to develop confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of pride in their culture and heritage.

We believe that mentoring is an incredibly powerful tool for creating positive change in the lives of young people.

By providing guidance, support, and encouragement, mentors can help to inspire and motivate our youth to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
