Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September

Prostate cancer can affect anyone born with a prostate. 1 in 7 Australian men will be diagnosed by age 75. 1 in 5 Australian men will be diagnosed by age 85.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

Chances for developing prostate cancer increase with age as well as having a family history of prostate cancer.

Possible symptoms include: 

Feeling the frequent or sudden need to urinate 

Finding it difficult to urinate (for example, trouble starting, or not being able to urinate when the feeling is there, poor urine flow) 

Discomfort when urinating 

Finding blood in urine
