Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Kambu Health Community Children’s Christmas Carnival on Sunday to celebrate the season together. We really appreciate you coming along and sharing the day with us, especially with the heat turning it into a proper scorcher. Seeing community show up, support one another and make the most of the day meant a lot to our team.
There was plenty happening throughout the day, and it was great to see our jarjums enjoying themselves from start to finish. From dagwood dogs, chicken nuggets and chips, burgers, slushies, ice cream and cold drinks, to the rides that kept the laughter going all afternoon — there was something for everyone. Watching the kids play together, chase bubbles and enjoy the festivities was a real highlight.
We were proud to host some incredible performances, with Ngarii Talga Aboriginal Dance Troupe and Mabuyag Torres Strait Islander Dance Troupe sharing culture and stories through dance. It was especially deadly to see community jump in and join Ngarii Talga at the end of their performance — those moments of connection are what these events are all about. A big thank you as well to DJ Big Mike for keeping the vibes strong and leading the kids’ countdown to the fireworks, and to The Fringe Dwellers for their live music throughout the day.
There was plenty more to keep everyone smiling, with face painting, reptiles, balloon animals and a special visit from Santa adding to the fun. Just as important was seeing parents, grandparents and carers sitting back, having a yarn with mob, sharing a feed and enjoying the day alongside their jarjums. It’s always special to see community come together like this, and even more special to see familiar faces returning year after year.
Thank you again for celebrating with us and helping make the day such a strong, joyful community event. From all of us at Kambu Health, we wish you and your families a Murri Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.
