Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, February 2026

February is Ovarian cancer awareness month. Ovarian cancer is an umbrella term used to describe a cancerous (malignant) tumour starting in one or both ovaries. The ovaries are made up of three main kinds of cells, and each of these cells can develop into a different type of tumour. 


Ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed in women or people with ovaries who are over the age of 50. Ovarian cancer is the eighth most common cancer in Australia. About 1,532 Australian women and people with ovaries are diagnosed each year.
