💙💚🤍🖤 Today we raise the Torres Strait Islander Flag with pride!💙💚🤍🖤

29 May is Torres Strait Islander Flag Day — a time to honour the deep cultural heritage, resilience, and strength of Torres Strait Islander peoples across the islands and the mainland.

At Kambu Health, we stand in respect, honour, and unity with our Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters — today and every day.

The flag was designed by the late Bernard Namok Senior from Thursday Island and officially presented on this day in 1992, at the sixth Torres Strait Cultural Festival.

It holds powerful meaning:

💙 The blue is for the waters of the Torres Strait.

💚The green lines represent the two mainlands — Australia and Papua New Guinea.

🤍The white Dhari (headdress) at the centre is a strong symbol of identity for all Torres Strait Islander people.

⭐️ The five-pointed star stands for the island groups — Eastern, Central, Western, Port Kennedy, and those who now call the mainland home.

In the words of Mr Namok Senior:

“What my design stands for is quite simple… I would like to thank those of you who have accepted my design — and in time, those of you who will.”

Let’s continue to honour culture, carry stories, and celebrate the enduring strength of Torres Strait Islander peoples.

When I fell behind on my accounting course, https://essaybox.org/coursework-writing-service/ saved me. The writer broke down complicated concepts and delivered everything neatly formatted in Excel and Word. It was accurate and easy to understand. Their coursework services are tailored to fit university-level expectations. I passed the course with flying colors and zero stress. Definitely recommended for anyone buried in course modules or falling behind in class.
